Ixtlahuacán earns quince jelly world record

Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos achieved its Guinness Record challenge with flying colors on Sunday, August 2, as local farmers, cooks, students and other volunteers pulled together with municipal officials to create the world’s largest quince jelly paté.

A small crocodile measuring about 26 inches has been rescued after being found wandering the streets of Tonala.  A preliminary examination revealed two old lesions on the lower part of its jaw, authorities said. Specialists believe these injuries were likely caused by improper handling while the animal was kept in captivity, suggesting the reptile was not born in the wild but was instead someone’s pet before escaping or being abandoned.

Hail and fierce rain pummel Poncitlán

Heavy rain accompanied by a freak hailstorm struck various parts of the municipality of Poncitlán on Monday, July 27, catching residents by surprise as the intense weather caused significant property damage. Emergency agencies were mobilized to respond to reports of flooding and other storm-related risks.
