Isabel Gonzalez gently embraces Daisy in her arms, breaking into a contented smile. She attentively takes in instructions on post-operative care for her beloved pet as the one-year-old mixed breed pup awakes from the effects of anesthesia after being spayed during the February 15-17 sterilization campaign carried out at Chapala’s Ramon Corona Primary School. Gonzalez is happy she won’t ever have to cope with bothersome heats and the task of finding homes for Daisy’s unwanted offspring. 

The Centro de Equitacion Terapeuta (CET) opened its gates for a country-style grand inauguration Saturday, February 16, showcasing the benefits of putting human beings together with a string of gentle horses, experienced professional therapists and a team of caring volunteers.

Kim Tolleson has always had a unique approach. Growing up in Texas as the son of business owners, he had business in his bones, but wanted to follow a more creative path. Two years ago, after many years owning a gallery that specialized in one-of-a-kind international home décor in Santa Cruz, California, Tolleson moved to Ajijic with no real intention of going into business.

Watching bright-eyed youngsters deftly handle heavy duty power tools and proudly show off the products of their handiwork gave immense satisfaction to more than a dozen expats who chipped in seed money to start up a carpentry workshop program in Santa Cruz de la Soledad.
