Auction

Efren Gonzalez, local artist and manager of the Ajijic Cultural Center, will hold an art auction on Friday, May 17, beginning on the north side of the Ajijic Plaza at 6 p.m.

The auction will benefit the project to complete the sculpture donated to the town by master sculptor Miguel Miramontes.

Besides a tent up to shade everyone from the sun and heat, there will be refreshments served. Come out and help.

The task of finishing Miramontes’ work is well underway at a foundry in Guadalajara. For Ajijic to own a work by this acclaimed sculptor will put Ajijic even further on the country’s artistic map, Gonzalez believes.

El Gallo

Ken Gosh is closing his El Gallo exhibition gallery at Guadalupe Victoria 30 in Ajijic. His paintings will be shown in future at Studio 18 (Colon 18, Ajijic). He will continue to teach his watercolor classes at El Gallo and will open the gallery for special events.

The Culinary Arts Society of Ajijic (CASA) held its regular meeting and competition on April 15 at Min Wah restaurant.

Party art

Mexican artists Francisco Gonzalez, Noel Gonzalez, Manuel Santillan, David Mendoza and others are staging an art party on Friday, April 19, 2-7 p.m. at Calle Mezcala 86 (between P. Monroy and Avenida La Estacion), Colonia Las Redes in Chapala.

The Naked Stage

The Naked Stage stages minimalistic play readings for adult theater lovers. Their next presentation will be “Boston Marriage” by David Mamet on April 19, 20 and 21, 4 p.m. at the Naked Stage Theatre.  Directed by Phyllis Silverman, the cast includes three veteran actors: Betty Lloyd Robinson, Jeritza McCarter and Diana Rowland.
