Neighbors of Ajijic’s west side Barrio de Tecoluta ushered in 2022 with their traditional Año Nuevo Desfile, picking up where they left off two years ago.

The nightly Show de Nieve snow machine blizzards at Chapala City Hall were such a hit with the public that the program has been extended through the end of the year. 

Large crowds showed up at Chapala’s Cristianía Park this week to bare their arms for AstraZeneca jabs at the first 2022 Covid-19 vaccination drive.

While scores of Lakeside area senior citizens took advantage of the December 9 through 16 Covid-19 vaccination campaign in Jocotepec to get their AstraZeneca booster shots, many others missed out on the opportunity.

AstraZeneca booster shots for over 60s are scheduled Tuesday, January 4 through Friday, January 7 at the Parque Cristiania in Chapala and the Marcos Castellano Auditorium in Jocotepec. Times are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In Chapala and 8 a.m to 4 p.m. in Jocotepec.

José Villalobos, Jesús Miramontes and Gerardo Rojas, founding members of the Cuarteto Romántico Los Flamingos, were among the performers appearing at the tribute to Ajijic musicians held Friday, December 17, at the Ajijic plaza esplanade.

Four suspects have been apprehended and bound over for prosecution following investigations that led to the rescue of two Jocotepec berry farmers who were kidnapped in November.
