Prime Chapala tourist zone upgrade resumes

The Jalisco Infrastructure and Public Works Secretariat (SIOP) has begun the next phase of street renovations in Chapala’s prime tourist zone.  The second stage of work on Paseo Ramón Corona Promenade stretches from Avenida González Gallo and the back entrance to La Cristianía Park past the Acapulquito restaurant strip.


Endurance cyclists to circle Lake Chapala

The Chapala government held a press conference this week to announce Vuelta Chapala ZEYCO 2026, an endurance cycling challenge that will bring together 50 cyclists from Mexico, the United States and Canada on September 26 to circumnavigate Lake Chapala, a distance of 232.52 kilometers. 

Ajijic cable project over halfway there

Chapala Mayor Alejandro Aguirre has reported that the first stage of the project to replace overhead electricity and telecommunications wiring with underground cables in central Ajijic is approximately 60 percent complete. 

Chapala’s Beer Garden shut down for expired license

As part of routine activities carried out by Chapala government inspectors, a verification operation conducted at local commercial establishments on Thursday, August 13 led to the closure of two businesses, including the iconic Beer Garden restaurant located on the Chapala Malecón.

Lakeside's University of Guadalajara campus takes shape

UdeG General Rector Karla Planter and CU-Chapala Rector Patricia Rosas Chávez conducted an inspection tour of the new Chapala University Center campus on Tuesday, August 18, to assess progress on the facility and identify pending needs for priority spaces such as laboratories and specialized equipment.
