Chevra Kadisha: honoring the departed

In her book “As a Jew,” Sarah Hurwitz speaks of “thin spaces”—places where life and death feel close, like hospitals, hospices, and funerals—uncomfortable for many, yet for Jews, we are commanded to enter these spaces. Through visiting the sick, sitting shiva, and participating in a Chevra Kadisha, we fulfill a sacred commandment, guided by ancient traditions.


Lois Schroff presents talk on famous medieval sacred art

Distinguished lakeside artist Lois Schroff will be featured in a presentation on the unique fresco artwork at the Church of Saint George on the Reichenau Island at Lake Constance in southern Germany. Her talk will take place on Sunday, June 21, 11 a.m. at the Common Ground Fellowship at Little Chapel by the Lake, on the north side of the highway just east of the entry road to Upper Chula Vista.
