Last Sunday’s concert by baritone Fernando Loher at the Centro Cultural Gonzalez Gallo was an impressive performance. One of several fund-raisers for his upcoming studies in Berlin, his selection of Bel Canto and Latin American songs provided the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the full range of his exceptional voice.

Theatre lovers can now enjoy an ongoing acting workshop at Lakeside showing off some extraordinary talent at the new Bravo! Theatre this week. The workshop (open to all, every Monday, 3 to 5 p.m.) consists of seven delightful scenes from plays by Neil Simon, Noel Coward, Tennessee Williams and other great writers. The actors vary from the highly experiencedprofessional, to the quite remarkable talent here in Ajijic who now have had the opportunity to really workand study their craft.
The “Three Sopranos” – Berenice Barragan, Viviana Baez, Patricia Hernandez accompanied by pianist and occasional fourth soprano, Gabriela Zepeda – were back by popular demand at last Thursday’s Viva la Musica concert at the Auditorio de la Ribera, and there’s no doubt whatsoever this concert was their best yet.
The recent donation of more than 50 pieces of pre-Hispanic pottery has triggered plans to open a museum space at the Ajijic Casa de Cultura.
Center Director Efren Gonzalez said the donor, Sergio Diaz. wants people “to see the collection in a place where it is protected.”
