SIMAPA, Chapala’s municipal water and sewage system, has temporarily suspended regular water service to parts of Ajijic throughout December.

Chapala Mayor Alejandro Aguirre Curiel highlighted some of the municipality’s priorities during an official visit to Chapala by Michelle Fridman, the newly appointed head of Jalisco’s Tourism Department (Secturjal), on December 17.

In making good on his campaign promise to complete the rehabilitation of all state highways within the first 18 months of his administration, Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro includes a proposal to build a flyover bridge to relieve the traffic bottleneck through the center of Ajijic.

The heart of San Antonio Tlayacapan is being transformed with the addition of 15 murals wrapped around the exterior wall of the Escuela Primaria Cuauhtémoc located opposite the southwest corner of the plaza.

While many lakeside residents will welcome the start of 2025 at private parties or various local restaurants, there will also be public festivities on December 31 and January 1 for holiday entertainment in Chapala and Ajijic.

Lakeside residents are being advised to contact local emergency medical services (EMS) directly when urgent health care or ambulance transport is needed. Calling 911 often delays response time, as operators must forward messages to the nearest EMS teams.

Open Circle
