Saturday’s colorful Regata del Globos hot air balloon extravaganza was a delightful experience for the thousands of people who showed up at Ajijic’s soccer field. Although overcast, the rain held off and many dozens of balloons flew up into the afternoon and evening sky toward the mountains. 

Independence Day paraders demand action to repair Ajijic primary school

Students and parents from Escuela Primaria Saúl Rodiles Piña took advantage of their participation in the Ajijic Día de Independencia parade to express dissatisfaction with the delays in rehabilitating the school’s facilities. They carried handmade signs as they marched through the streets, stopping to hang their messages of concern on the exterior fence as they passed the school’s location on Calle Hidalgo.

Lakeside quake evacuation drill slated for September 19

Earthquake evacuation exercises will be practiced in lakeshore communities and elsewhere throughout Mexico at noon on Friday, September 19.

In the state of Jalisco, the second Macrosimulacro Nacional of 2025 will be based on the hypothesis of an 8.1-magnitude earthquake with an epicenter located off the coast of La Huerta.

Gaza protest lands in Chapala
