Not everything that happened during the February 22 security crisis was about doom and destruction. Multiple accounts of Mexicanos and foreigners coming to the aid of one another have emerged over the past week. And then there is the tale of Ajijic artist Efrén González, who cleverly demonstrated how improvisation works in the face of adversity.

What? A Winter Wonderland in the World’s Best Climate?  That is what downtown Ajijic looked like as the town’s Carnaval festivities finally wound down on Tuesday, February 17.

A high-level member of the Canadian government, visiting the lakeside area this week as part of a major trade mission to Mexico, found himself overcome with emotion as he listened to musicians rehearsing for a concert at the Northern Lights Music Festival.
