While not officially designated on either the country’s civic or liturgical calendars, Día de las Madres is one of the most widely and fervently celebrated of all national holidays. It is invariably commemorated on May 10, regardless of the day of the week it falls.

This year, Lake Chapala region residents will be busy over this weekend, joining family gatherings and a variety of public events organized as part of the “madre de todas las fiestas.”
