Joan Christine Forsyth, who had lived some 40 years in Guadalajara, died unexpectedly in a hospital on December 20 after a short illness following hip replacement surgery. She was 78. She was the widow of Avard Forsyth who died here in 2000. In recent years, Joan was very involved at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, where she served on the vestry, and did cooking and fund raising projects.
Martha “Patty” Mee, a longtime resident of La Floresta, Ajijic died at home on Wednesday, December 4 at the age of 72. She had struggled with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and the effects of tobacco addiction for many years. She was the widow of John W. Mee, who died here in 2004.
Hal Kaluhiokalani Matthews, a popular entertainer at Lake Chapala, where he played the ukulele and sang Hawaiian songs at clubs and restaurants, died suddenly November 30. He was 78.
Longtime Lakeside resident Peggy Dando died on October 28 from complications after a stroke she suffered in 2002. She was 91.
Roberto Moulun, a gifted story teller and longtime resident of Ajijic, died Monday, September 30 in a local clinic after a brief illness. He was 89.
