90-something Lakeside couple ties the knot

Newlyweds Cleola Mary Hengstebeck, 94, and John Wester, 92, are all smiles at the end of their Saturday, November 7 New Braunfels, Texas, wedding ceremony.

The bride and groom are long-time lakeside residents.

The wedding date was carefully set around schedules of family members and, according to Wester, a Naval Academy graduate and World War II Navy pilot, so it wouldn’t coincide with the annual Army-Navy game.

St. Andrew’s Anglican

“Repent! The end is near!” The cartoon caricature of a wild-eyed fanatic in a sandwich board in New York’s Times Square makes the Christian notion of the Second Coming of Christ seem absurd. But “First Things First,” Fr. Winston Welty’s sermon Sunday, November 15, 10 a.m., at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, takes seriously both Jesus’ promise to return and His unwillingness to set a date. Welty simply asks what we’re to do in the meantime.
