What is there left to say about one of the planet’s most popular operas (number two, according to Operabase), especially in Latin America and especially in Guadalajara, a city of opera nuts who typically buy out each and every production of “Carmen,” which drips with high drama and is studded with some of the best known music in the world?

Thanks to the administration of the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra, the Guadalajara Reporter invites readers and opera buffs to take a stab at winning two free tickets to “L’elisir d’amore” (Elixir of Love) by Gaetano Donizetti for Sunday, November 30, 6:30 p.m., at the Teatro Degollado in downtown Guadalajara. 

This Friday, Saturday and Sunday (November 7 to 9), the glassy lobby of the Demetria Hotel in Colonia Lafayette will resound with the presence of ten exhibitors from throughout Mexico, who are gathering for an exceptional, free event that aims to interest ordinary people in collecting antiquities made before 1945.
