The “Three Sopranos” – Berenice Barragan, Viviana Baez, Patricia Hernandez accompanied by pianist and occasional fourth soprano, Gabriela Zepeda – were back by popular demand at last Thursday’s Viva la Musica concert at the Auditorio de la Ribera, and there’s no doubt whatsoever this concert was their best yet.

The recent donation of more than 50 pieces of pre-Hispanic pottery has triggered plans to open a museum space at the Ajijic Casa de Cultura. 

Center Director Efren Gonzalez said the donor, Sergio Diaz. wants people “to see the collection in a place where it is protected.” 

Lakeside Little Theatre’s final show of its 50th season is a gentle comedy which relates the seldom tranquil lives of five former members of their college swim team, “The Dixie Swim Club,” during their 30-plus years of friendship. Directed by Barbara Clippinger, it runs March 27 to April 5, except March 30.

A slate of six distinguished speakers took to the podium to share writing and publishing tips and experience with the 75 participants at the 11th Annual Lake Chapala Writers Conference on Thursday and Friday, March 12 and 13 at the Hotel Danza Del Sol in Ajijic.  

Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Becky McGuigan is singing at La Rueda in San Juan Cosalá on Saturday, March 28, 8 p.m. McGuigan performed during the 2014 season at a variety of venues including the Piano Rojo and Squeaky Wheels readings at La Rueda.   La Rueda is a combination venue which includes an art gallery, cultural center, café, coffee house, wine bar and entertainment setting on Calle Porfirio Diaz, about two blocks west of the plaza in San Juan Cosalá. Watch for the white building with the big sculpture on the rooftop terrace. 

Announced as “Adventures with Peter O’Toole, Life and Buddhism,” Elizabeth Richardson’s unusual one-woman show, “Going On,” on March 3 and 4 was the first production in Lakeside Little Theatre’s occasional Spotlight Series featuring visiting performers from further afield.
